Biography

Mrs. Katie Henderson is a native of St. Louis and a graduate of Brentwood High School. Her first instrument was the violin which she started playing at the age of 2 1/2. Mrs. Henderson received her Bachelor of Music Education from The Ohio State University and her Master's of Music Education from Kent State University. Mrs. Henderson taught orchestra in the Fairfax County Public Schools in Northern Virginia for 6 years, teaching a combination of 4th through 8th graders. She returned to the St. Louis area in 2008 and currently teaches at McKelvey and Bellerive Elementary Schools.

She is married to Daniel Henderson, a cellist and orchestra director at Clayton High School. Outside of teaching, Mrs Henderson likes to spend time with her daughters, Amelia and Elizabeth, play games, cook, travel, go to the movies, and play with her cat, Clive.
