Berkshire County Stockbridge Munsee Mohicans

¨People of the Waters that Never are Still¨

The Muh-he-con-ne-ok

Project Overview

Students in the 8th grade at Herberg Middle School are engaging in a year long civic action project related specifically to our local Stockbridge Munsee Mohican Native American history. The objective is to inform students and have them actively take part in Native American reparations in and around our immediate area. This connects to our Massachusetts State Standards 8th grade Civics Project and will help support students in their understanding of civic action as they will later take on their own project focused on an issue they identify as a needed change within the community.

The family clans of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band were the bear, the wolf, the turtle, and the turkey.
