We have been very excited to get our Modern Band program started at Ayden Middle School! Students are able to collaborate to create an AMS Jam band in 7th and 8th grades. They learn each rock band instrument a variety of different songs. These songs can range from 50's rock all the way to modern day pop! It is a very exciting and engaging experience for our students. It is also a lifelong skills that they can continue with completing their time at the middle school. 7th and 8th grade music students are invited to perform on the Winter and Spring concerts. We hope to participate in a community performance this year as well!
Students learn to study the different parts of the drumset rhythms.
They have the opportunity transfer their ukulele playing skills to guitar.
Students learn the role that a bass guitar plays in modern songs.
They are able to learn lifelong skills and enjoy a instrument that connects all others!
Our EC and AU classes join in music room experience weekly. Our school has a wonderful peer helpers program in which students act as peer helpers during explore classes and within the EC/AU classrooms. We have really enjoyed our big once a week music class. It bring so much JOY to the classroom. This coming year we are hoping to expand our EC/AU music activities and bring more music learning and opportunities to the EC/AU classes! We have been very lucky to have received new instruments specifically for our EC/AU students to use and enjoy through our DonorsChoose projects. We are looking forward to an exciting music filled year for all of our students!
We enjoy collabortaing and creating music together each week!
There such Joy that music class brings to our students. There is also such Joy that we all have making music together!
specially designed to provide a more accessible way for our EC/AU students to learn music!

OUR CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
"THE AMS MUSIC LISTENING LIBRARY"
Throughout the semester music students work on listening journals where they are able to listen to and reflect on music from old to new, using devices from the 1950's to present day. It is an awesome way for them to be exposed to music that is "new" to them and have an idea of how listening to music has evolved over time!
The "Chill Corner"
"A Home Away from Home"
Middle School can be challenging and we wanted to create a space that students felt comfortable and cared for you. Again, thank you to generous donors on DonorsChoose we were able to create a "Chill Corner" and being the "My Teacher's Closet" project which supplies student with everyday needs. Let's face it, there are going to be days where the world is just too much and a student may need a quite calm place to decompress. It is extremely important that our students feel seen and cared for more than on just an academic level. We are grateful and excited to provide these unique resources to our students this year! Thank you to all who support out projects and make donation through out Amazon wish list! It goes a long way!
