LEARN
All Chorus students are able to learn how to read and sing music! 6th Grade begins to explore choral singing and using good tone and tall vowels. 7th and 8th grade are progressively challenge with more sight reading maters, music vocab and a variety of different styles of music which require changing tone.
Students also, learn how to practice be held accountable for holding their own in a chorus. We are a team and it takes 100% from each chorus member!
COLLABORATE
6th - 8th Grade chorus not only collaborate with their grade level but, with the other two grade levels as well. We are ONE chorus! Each month we have a gathering with the entire chorus in which we get together to practice and have team building time!
The chorus collaborates with the other Fine Arts Classes, SGA/Pep Club, and community organizations throughout the school year.
Chorus relies on Teamwork and the idea of individuals working together to create one sound. There are so many important skills learned in this type of setting!
PERFORM
Chorus students have many opportunities to perform throughout the school year!
In the Fall, students will participate in the Ayden Veterans' Day Ceremony and perform on a Thank you Veterans' Tour to local Nursing Homes in the Spring.
In the Winter the AMS Chorus will go on a Holiday Carol tour and go caroling at local nursing homes. Also, they participate in Ayden Christmas town and perform a Winter Concert at the School.
In the Spring they compete in the "Music in the Parks Festival", perform in All County Honors Chorus, and put a Spring Concert to end the school year!
BUILD A COMMUNITY
Middle School can be tough its hard to feel like you belong sometimes. We build a community through not only music and performing but, through SEL activities and getting to know one another.
Chorus students participate in rapport building activities, events that include eating togther, getting to watch musical performances together, and fun projects throughout the year.
We also create a community with our AMS families and community and try to keep them involved and updated in everything we do through our socials media and on Class Dojo.
