Read Write Think: This site contains a robust array of interactive materials that include trading card generators, graphic organizers, writing prompts, and timeline generators.

Library of Congress: This site provides users with access to texts, interactive materials, exhibitions, and much more. The site is embedded below for easy access.

Amistad Curriculum: The New Jersey Amistad Commission has developed online curriculum and resources for use in U.S. and World History courses.


The DBQ Project: This site includes sample essays/ prompts, coaching materials, and professional development opportunities.

FactCheck.org:

"We are a nonpartisan, nonprofit “consumer advocate” for voters that aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics. We monitor the factual accuracy of what is said by major U.S. political players in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews and news releases. Our goal is to apply the best practices of both journalism and scholarship, and to increase public knowledge and understanding."


New Jersey Council for the Social Studies: "The NJCSS is the only statewide association in New Jersey devoted solely to social studies education. A major goal and accomplishment of the NJCSS has been to bring together educators from all social studies disciplines, including history, economics, political science, sociology geography, anthropology, and psychology."

The News Literacy Project: "The News Literacy Project (NLP) is a nonpartisan national education nonprofit that works with educators and journalists to teach middle school and high school students how to sort fact from fiction in the digital age. NLP provides these students with the essential skills they need to become smart, active consumers of news and information and engaged, informed citizens. "

The Mariner's Museum and Park: This site contains interactive materials, video, and other biographical information regarding nautical history. I embedded the "Age of Exploration" section below for ease of access.

National Endowment for the Humanities: "The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is an independent federal agency created in 1965. It is one of the largest funders of humanities programs in the United States. " This site contains articles, student materials, and instructional tools. The site is embedded below for ease of access.

African Mask Exhibition: This site contains African tribal masks from a University of Virginia exhibition. The site is embedded below for ease of access.

University of Pennsylvania Museum: This site contains information about Ancient History exhibits of the U-Penn Museum. I embedded the hieroglyphic translator app they developed in the space below for ease of access purposes.

Lascaux: This site contains a virtual tour of the cave paintings in Lascaux, France.

U.S. History Resources

University of Houston Digital History Database:

"The materials on this Web site include a U.S. history textbook; over 400 annotated documents from the Gilder Lehrman Collection, supplemented by primary sources on slavery, Mexican American, Asian American, and Native American history, and U.S. political, social, and legal history; succinct essays on the history of film, ethnicity, private life, and technology; multimedia exhibitions; and reference resources that include a database of annotated links, classroom handouts, chronologies, glossaries, an audio archive including speeches and book talks by historians, and a visual archive with hundreds of historical maps and images."


Virtual Jamestown: "The Virtual Jamestown Archive is a digital research, teaching and learning project that explores the legacies of the Jamestown settlement and "the Virginia experiment." As a work in progress, Virtual Jamestown aims to shape the national dialogue on the occasion of the four hundred-year anniversary observance in 2007 of the founding of the Jamestown colony" (Virtual Jamestown).
