What is COBRA?
a. While it can be a snake, it is also known as the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA). This gives workers and their families who lose their health benefits the right to choose to continue group health benefits provided by their group health plan for limited periods of time under certain circumstances such as voluntary or involuntary job loss, reduction in the hours worked, transition between jobs, death, divorce, and other life events. You can expect to receive a COBRA notice in the mail within 30 days of your termination date and will have 60 days past your last day of insurance coverage to enroll.
When do my health benefits end?
a. Health Insurance ends on the last day of the month you were last employed.
