Linguistic Accommodations

Please only recommend accommodations if the student really needs them during STAAR.

Language Arts/Reading Teachers:

We want to give our ELLs every opportunity to exit ESL. Therefore, be careful about recommending linguistic accommodations to students who are taking reading and writing STAAR. They will not meet exit criteria if they receive linguistic accommodations in STAAR reading. On the other hand, it is okay for ESL students to receive accommodations from CMIT or SPED. It will not affect their exit criteria.
