Hello! My name is Phoebe. I am a second-year student at SBCC, who will be transferring to a university next year! I am interested in creative writing, I've been writing for about three years. I focus mainly on short stories and the use of particular language in writing. I grew up in Goleta, and I am aiming to study abroad once I transfer. Some of my hobbies include writing,(of course :)), almost everything about the creative arts community, customizing mechanical keyboards, and listening to music. My hours are Tuesday and Thursdays from 9am to 11am in the LRC near the Writing Center. You can reach me at: pmlawler@pipeline.sbcc.edu
Hello My name is Karina Carachure, I am an English major and I love writing poetry. This is my second year at SBCC, but I hope to transfer this upcoming fall. I grew up in Guerrero, Mexico, and since then, I have always had a passion to help my community and advocate for them, so reviving MECHA will be a step closer towards my goal. I also love spending most of my time at coffee shops, museums and at the beach, really anywhere that brings me peace. kcarachure@pipeline.sbcc.edu

Hello: My name is Bridget! I am originally from San Diego and moved to Santa Barbara to come to SBCC. I started at SBCC as a nursing major but then discovered my love for English and switched my major as soon as possible. Throughout my life I have had a love for literature, whether it was reading "Twilight" or "Chaucer" there is a place for all literary works! While at SBCC I founded a literature club, became a member of Phi Theta Kappa and wrote for the the creative writing magazine, "Open Fruit." In regards to my future, I would love to be a professor some day! I have a deep love for English.
Hello! My name is Leo Rubio and I am a 3rd year English major at UCSB. I am newly transferred from SBCC after completing 2 years, so the campus and people are still near and dear to me. I have a great appreciation for all forms of art, especially literature and music, and personally enjoy writing, whether that be creatively or academically. My other creative love is playing the jazz saxophone, so if you happen to have any questions about music, always feel free to ask. I am here and happy to help any student who needs it in the LRC on Wednesdays from 9am-1pm. lirubio@pipeline.sbcc.edu
Hello everyone! My name is Ednna Velazquez Hernandez. I am an English and Spanish double major at UCSB. Before joining the English Peer Tutor + Mentor Project this fall, I was an English tutor for two years at SBCC. One extracurricular that I am proud of is founding the UNO Club at SBCC with my friends. When I am not in an academic setting, I like to explore and listen to classical music and music from the 60s-80s. Feel free to contact me at eavelazquez@pipeline.sbcc.edu.
Hi everybody, I'm Cara (care-uh)! I'm from a tiny town in Virginia, I'm a proud goth, I'm a bio major here at SBCC, and I'll be your English tutor for these next few weeks! My academic goal is to transfer to Cal Poly Humboldt and earn my Bachelor's degree in Biology. I'd, then, like to take that degree and become an autopsy technician. Now, although I am a science nerd, English is super fun to me, because it allows me to express myself and use my own voice in a way that other classes don't. There is no wrong way to write your essay, as long as it's conceptually strong! Have trouble or need help with that? That's what I'm here for! Don't understand an assignment or have a quick question about the class? I'm here for that, too!
Hi, my name is Ali Korahais! I am an English major whose passion ranges from creative to analytical writing. I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida and just moved to Santa Barbara this summer! After spending a year at the University of Florida, I decided it wasn’t the right fit for me. I took a leap of faith on SBCC and am endlessly grateful to be part of this uplifting community. Trust me, I know the feelings of anxiety and confusion that come with the college experience. I’m still figuring it out too! And I’m here for you! :)
