Welcome to North GLRS!
North Georgia Learning Resources System (North GLRS) provides training and resources to school district personnel, parents of students with disabilities, and other interested individuals to support the functional and academic achievement, graduation rate, and post-secondary success of students with disabilities.
The staff at North GLRS is specialized in providing professional learning, technical assistance, and coaching for school systems on a variety of topics related to students with disabilities including:
Providing Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) support to school systems.
Providing training on IEP writing, implementation, and monitoring.
Providing training on Specially Designed Instruction, High Leverage Practices (HLPs), and evidence-based practices to meet the whole child needs of students with disabilities.
Supporting the State Systemic Improvement Plan (SSIP) - Student Success: Imagine the Possibilities and implementing dropout prevention initiatives.
Conducting Comprehensive Data Analysis.
Facilitating math and reading projects.
Supporting new special education teachers and leaders.
Training instructional coaches to support all students and teachers.
Supporting transition planning and assistive technology.

The 24th Annual Philip Wright Award Banquet was held on March 19, 2025. The award recipients for each district is listed below. Congratulations to all our winners!
The annual Philip Wright Awards honor a legacy created by Mr. Philip Wright in his commitment to improving educational services for students with disabilities. Each school system in the Pioneer RESA region selects an individual who demonstrates the service, commitment, and advocacy qualities exemplified by Mr. Wright. These individuals continue to serve as a shining light in their community for children with disabilities.

GLRS presented Professional Learning on Specially Designed Instruction for Dawson County Elementary and Secondary Teachers on March 14, 2025 at Dawson County High School.
The Georgia Department of Education hosted a Preschool Numeracy Training led by the Georgia State Best Practices team on February 20, 2025.
GLRS and the Transition Collaborative held its annual College and Career Fair at Lumpkin County High School on February 13, 2025.
Amie Dean presents a Behavior Interventions Workshop on February 12, 2025 at the Mountain Education Regional Support Center in Cleveland, GA.
Middle and High School Paraprofessionals met on February 11th for the second meeting of the Paraprofessionals Academy.
Special Education Teacher Induction Program had its last in person meeting for this year on February 4, 2025. Teachers learned about High Leverage Practice 18 - Using Engagement Strategies as they completed a Breakout Activity.

The Teacher/Provider Retention Program (TPRP), also known as the SPED Teacher Induction Program met for the first of 4 in-person meetings this year. Each meeting will be focused on several of the High-Leverage Practices used by SPED teachers. Teachers will also attend 8 virtual sessions focused on teaching the High-Leverage Practices.
August 16, 2024 - Special Education Directors Collaborative
The SPED Director Collaborative met at Pioneer RESA for its first meeting of the year. Eighteen directors, assistant directors, and coordinators were present.
August 12, 2024 - Co-Teaching Training at West Hall High School
GLRS visited West Hall HIgh School to deliver professional learning on co-teaching. Teachers attended the training with their co-teacher(s) and learned about the three components of co-teaching: co-planning, co-instructing, and co-assessing.
July 25, 2024 - Check and Connect Mentor Training at Centennial Arts Academy
Teachers at Centennial Arts Academy in Gainesville are implementing Check and Connect. Teachers completed the mentor training at the end of July.
