Welcome to Mrs. Rubin's 4th grade class!!
**Please save PCA's phone number as you will be receiving phone messages with important information from Infinite Campus. The phone number is 704-470-4040.
Graded assignments will be sent home on Fridays in the student's "Friday Folder." Folders should be signed and returned to school the following Monday. Please note: it is the student's responsibility to get their Friday Folder signed and returned to school.
Parents/Guardians: We will be doing 3 field trips this year. They are as follows:
9/24 Liberty Mountain play in Kings Mountain $26 for students ($5 for adults, meet there and pay at the door)
11/13 Grandfather Mountain (Adults meet us there, we have limited space)-details coming soon
2/19 Raleigh (Adults meet us there, we have limited space)- details coming soon

Social Studies project due 9/18
Students will create their own island. They will come up with a rough draft map in class this week.
The map must include:
The island's name
a compass
a map key
at least 5 geographical features (mountains, rivers, volcanoes, lakes, etc)
at least 3 custom landmarks (school, park, grocery store etc)
This project is due next Friday the 18th and must be completed on poster board. The images must all be student created and colored. Since the rough draft will be completed in class, the final draft should be completed at home.
Students must also write a paragraph that is 5-8 sentences long that will describe their island.
The grading criteria for this project is as follows:
Map basics-20 points
Map details- 30 points
Travel guide (paragraph)-30 points
Neatness and effort-20 points
10 points will be deducted for each day it is late, and points will be deducted if it is not in the student's handwriting. This is going in as a project grade which is the same as a test, 50% of total grade.
