February 9th - 13th

• Reading:

We will continue Skills Unit 5. This week we will review alternative spellings for /b/ (b and bb), /k/ (c, k, ck, cc) and /ch/ (ch and tch).  Students will continue to read stories from their reader, “Kate.”.  We will have our make up level F R.C.P. Assessment on Monday, February 9th.

• Letterland:

Unit 22: This week students will learn about the long /o/ sound for the Vowel Teams /oa/ and /ow/. The Unit 22 spelling test will be on Thursday, February 12th.

• Writing:

Our assessment for Personal Narratives will be on Monday, February 9th.  Students will begin our Verb Unit where they will practice using verbs to convey a sense of past, present, and future (e.g., Yesterday, I walked home; Today, I walk home; Tomorrow, I will walk home).  Vocabulary words for this mini unit are singular noun, plural, noun, and verbs.

• Listening and Learning:

Students will continue learning about Simple Machines. They will learn about a wheel and axle, a pulley, a lever, and how a wedge and screw work together. The assessment will be on February 17th.

• Math:

Lesson 17: Students will learn to use the make a ten strategy to subtract (subtract the part of the number from the teen number to leave 10). The math test will be on Thursday, February 12th. 

·   Sight Words: 

Please practice sight words each night.  The assessment will be on Friday, February 27th.
