Reading Mastery:  Grade 2 Reading Mastery program (Workbook A)

Students will continue building strong reading skills while growing in confidence and understanding.

Students will work on:

1. Reading fluency and accuracy – reading smoothly, accurately, and with confidence.

2. Phonics and word reading – using letter sounds and word-reading skills to read new words.

3. Vocabulary – learning new words and understanding what they mean.

4. Reading comprehension – understanding what they read, remembering details, and answering questions.

5. Literary understanding – exploring characters, settings, events, and important details in stories.

6. Language and sentence skills – strengthening sentence understanding and language skills.

7. Written responses – responding to what they read using words and sentences.

Throughout Workbook A, students will review and practice previously learned skills while gradually becoming more independent readers.

The Goal:  to help students become confident, accurate, and fluent readers who understand and enjoy what they read. 

• Read nightly 15-20 minutes (book of their choice)  

• Talk with your child about the story they read

• Reading Challenge information & paper apples were sent home in their folder 8/17.   Challenege ends 9/24.

Math:  Unit 1:  Lesson 4:  Understand Even and Odd Numbers

• Family Letter & Practice pages 27 - 34

• Students will use their Math Practice and Problem Solving workbook. 

•  Please review their work.   In the back of the workbook are extra practice they can do any time.

• Quiz:  Friday, September 11

Social Studies:  none

Science:  Properties of Matter:  Solid / Liquid / Gas

Writing:  Nouns & Handwriting 

Homework is given for the student's benefit to practice at home.  It's not collected or graded.
