3. Rising 7th graders - Attached below is the immunization requirement letter that will impact students rising into the 7th grade for the 2024-2025 school year.

4. May 14th- There will be a meeting in the band room on Tuesday, May 14, for students and parents who are interested in the opportunity to learn an instrument and/or play in the band. Mrs. Owens will be showing 5th graders instruments during their weekly music classes the week before the meeting, so they will have some idea of what they would like to do.  We will also discuss the summer band camp at this time. There will be a representative from Music & Arts present to assist with instrument rentals and/or sales, books, and other supplies.  Please go to the 6-12 music website for more details about band Band website.

5. May 20th to May 24th- Middle school will have their EOGs the week of May 20th.

7. PE will be outside often. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle and an extra pair of shoes. It is also recommended to bring a small, separate bag for dirty shoes. 

8. Every Friday will be School Spirit Day. Students may wear PCA spirit wear tops (athletic eagle logo) with uniform bottoms on Fridays. Please note: Norris Merchandise is selling some PCA items with hoods - these items are NOT approved spirit wear. Per the dress code, students may not wear hoodies or hooded jackets inside the building at any time.
   
   

9. Cell phones and all other personal electronic devices (including but not limited to smartwatches, MP3 players, personal computers/laptops, video games, tablets, etc.) are NOT allowed at school during the school day. Any personal electronic device found during the day will be confiscated. Refer to the school website for the entire technology policy.
   
   

10. Dress Code Reminder: Make sure students are following the school dress code. Please remember that students may not wear hoodies or hooded jackets inside the building at any time.  Please make sure that all student clothing, including jackets, coats, shoes, and socks, conforms to the dress code. Refer to the school website for guidelines. If violations occur, teachers/staff will issue a written notice of uniform violation that must be signed by the parent and returned to the school.

We're excited to announce that the (ATHLETICS) application portal for the 2024-2025 school year is now officially open on DragonFlyMax.com! If you're planning to tryout for any of our fall 2024 athletic teams, it's mandatory to have your 2024-2025 school year account completed. 

Moving forward, our Athletic Department will be present at tryouts, and students without completed 2024-2025 accounts will be unable to attend. We understand that some of you may have physicals on file at PCA. Moving forward, we kindly request that you keep the originals and submit your copies online. Physicals submitted to the school will be returned home for online submission. Plus, to make things easier, certain demographic data from the 2023-2024 school year will transfer over automatically.

3. Rising 7th graders - Attached below is the immunization requirement letter that will impact students rising into the 7th grade for the 2024-2025 school year.

4. April 19th - Progress reports went home on Friday, April 19th.Please sign and return these as soon as possible.  End of year i-Ready math and reading diagnostic results are coming home as well.  These do not need to be returned.

5. April 29th and May 2nd - Middle school will be taking our third and final NC Check Ins the week of April 29th.  Reading is scheduled for April 30th and Math is scheduled for May 2nd.

6. By May 1st - Please help us in showing our love and support to the Senior Class of 2024.  PCA will be presenting each Senior a basket the week of graduation.  We are asking for individuals or groups to help us by adopting one member of our senior class and preparing a basket of their favorite things.  See flyer for details.

With graduation drawing close, the middle school staff wants to honor the Senior Class of 2024. Starting with the Class of 2020, baskets were presented to each senior during the week of their graduation activities. Our school wants to continue this tradition. We are asking you to participate in helping make these baskets memorable for students. Each senior compiled a list of favorite items such as places to shop and eat, foods, candy, hobbies, etc. Our goal is to fulfill at least 4 baskets with the help of your donations. I have included a picture of the baskets donated by our middle school previously, as well as a sign-up genius link. The link provides items for the Class of 2024 and links to their Amazon wishlists. If you prefer to order directly from their list, send these items in to help fill the baskets.

3. April 12th - NJHS is hosting a march of dimes fundraiser on Friday, April 12th.  Pizza will be sold during lunch for $1 a slice.  Please make sure students understand that pizza is limited and should not be relied on as their only source of lunch for that day. 

4. April 12th - Spring pictures were sent home on March 18th.  Spring picture order forms are due by April 12th.

Weekly Updates and Reminders - 3/22/2024

1. The character trait for the month of March is Justice.

2. The 2024-2025 school calendar is attached below.

3. Third quarter report cards went home on Wednesday, March 13th.  Please sign and return as soon as possible.

4. March 29 to April 5th is Spring Break.  There will not be school on these days. 

5. March 28th - Students can pay $1 to wear blue.  Funds are going to help support NC Children’s Home.  Students are required to wear jean pants or uniform bottoms on fundraiser dress down days.  Jeans may not have holes or tears (regardless of patches or leggings underneath.  Uniform shoes must be worn.

6. March 28th - K-8 Yearbook order forms were sent home.  The cost to order a yearbook is $30.  The deadline for ordering a yearbook is by Thursday, March 28th.  Cash or check should be attached to the order form.  Make checks payable to David Grose Photography.  A digital copy of the order form is included below. Yearbooks can be ordered online at: https://davidgrosephotography.shootproof.com  Please include the name of the homeroom teacher in the comments section when checking out.  Sales tax will be added to all online orders.

March 28th - Students can pay $1 to wear blue.  Funds are going to help support NC Children’s Home.  Students are required to wear jean pants or uniform bottoms on fundraiser dress down days.  Jeans may not have holes or tears (regardless of patches or leggings underneath.  Uniform shoes must be worn.

March 28th - K-8 Yearbook order forms were sent home.  The cost to order a yearbook is $30.  The deadline for ordering a yearbook is by Thursday, March 28th.  Cash or check should be attached to the order form.  Make checks payable to David Grose Photography.  A digital copy of the order form is included below. Please note: Norris Merchandise is selling some PCA items with hoods - these items are NOT approved spirit wear. Cell phones and all other personal electronic devices (including but not limited to smartwatches, MP3 players, personal computers/laptops, video games, tablets, etc.) are NOT allowed at school during the school day. 1. January 19 - February 8th - We will begin selling the candy grams starting next Thursday, January 18 and continue selling them each Tuesday and Thursday until Thursday, February 8. To purchase, students can stop by Mrs. Tyler’s  room (225) or Mrs. Rash's room (105) each morning between 7:45am and 8:00 am OR Mrs. Tyler’s room (225) during lunch time.  Please see the flyer for more information.

The finalist spelling bee is open for parents/guardians to attend.  The winner will advance to the Carolina Panthers Charter School Zoom bee on February 7.

4. January 13th - PEAK is taking it BACK TO THE 80's and hosting an 80's themed 4th-5th grade dance on Friday, January 12th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the K-3 campus gymnasium and an 80's themed Middle School dance on Saturday, January 13th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the K-3 campus gymnasium. 

The entry fee is $5 per student. We will be having an 80's themed Best Dressed Contest, a 360 degree Photo Booth for $5/each video (students will need to bring a cell phone to utilize this for their video), and an 80's themed still Photo Booth for $5/each picture (provided by Bree Kinmon Photography). We will have a special guest DJ Chuck Martin from Crunk Muzic Entertainment.

1. The character trait for the month of January is Productivity.

2. January 5th - Report cards and i-Ready testing data was sent home on Friday January 15th.  Please sign and return this as soon as possible.

3. January 13th - PEAK will be hosting a MS Dance.  The dance is 80s themed, and will be located in the K-3 gym from 6-8 pm.  More details will be provided in the future.

4. January 15th - There will be no school in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

5. January 19th - January 19th is a college t-shirt day.  Students can wear their favorite college t-shirt with jean pants or uniform bottoms.  Jeans cannot have holes or tears.  Regular uniform shoes must be worn.

6. January 26th - There will be no school for students.  There is a teacher professional development day.

7. January 22 - 26th - We will be celebrating national school choice week.  School choice is the process of allowing every family to choose the K-12 educational options that best fit their children.  Thank you for choosing PCA.

1. There will not be an “updates and reminders” email sent the week of December 18th.

2. December 20-January 3rd - The school will be closed.  No school for students.  Have a safe and wonderful Winter Break.

3. December 13th - 18th - We will be on a modified schedule due to exam week for semester long classes.  The schedule is posted below.  Students in middle school will be taking their i-Ready diagnostic test for ELA and Math during this week.  The second nine weeks ends on December 19th.  Report cards will be sent home in January.

4. December 19th - December 19th is a regular scheduled full day of school.

5. January 24th - The third annual PCA school spelling bee for grades 3-8 will take place on Wednesday, January 24, at 9:00 on the grade 4-12 campus in the downstairs media center. 6. November 21st - 6/7th grade will be going on a field trip on November 21st.  We are going to the Charlotte Motor Speedway and UNC-Charlotte campus. The buses will be leaving shortly after 8:00 am.   Please make sure your student is arriving on time this day.  Students will need to be picked up on the Elementary Side of Campus at 3:45 pm. (Near the band room)  A detailed email was sent home earlier this week with information about the field trip.

4.  November 3rd - Fall Pictures went home October 12th.  Order forms are due back by November 3rd.  Make checks payable to David Grose Photography.  If you would like the digital package just write it in on your form, this package is $20.

5. November 9th - Please join our Middle School students in honoring our Veterans on Thursday, November 9th. If you would like to submit a photo of your family member who has served in the armed forces, we would love to display them at the ceremony. Please submit a copy of their picture along with their name and dates of service to hfouts@pinnacleclassicalacademy.com. Thank you in your support of honoring those who have served. 

6. November 10th - There will be no school in observance of Veteran’s Day.

3. Starting October 2nd - Peak is collecting donations for trunk or treat and spooky treat walk. A collection bin is located at the elementary side at drop-off and pickup.  See the attached flyer.

4. October 19th - The first nine weeks ends on Friday, October 13th.  Report cards will be going home.  Please sign and return these as soon as possible.

5. October 19th - We would love to see you participate in the next PEAK meeting at the K-3 campus at 6:00 p.m.  The next couple meeting dates will be October 19th, November 16th and January 25th.

6. Returned by October 20th - Fall Festival is coming.  Peak raffles off baskets.  Each grade level is collecting items to fit their grades theme.

August 21st - Band and Chorus rehearsals began on Monday, August 21.  The weekly schedule is as follows:   Monday - Percussion rehearsal, Tuesday - Beginner band, Wednesday - Chorus, Thursday - Band rehearsal (for those with 1+ years of band experience) Friday - individual lessons. Sign up for lessons with Mrs. Owens.

7. August 23rd through 28th - Middle School will take the i-Ready reading and math diagnostic test starting on August 23rd.  This diagnostic is an adaptive assessment to find a student's level of understanding.

1. End of Grade or End of Course Testing - Middle school students will be completing teacher-made finals and EOG/EOCs the week of May 22nd to May 26th.  Reteaching/Retesting will take place from May 30th to June 1st.

2. Middle School Awards Day- May 26th -  Middle School Awards Day will be held in the upper campus at 10 am.  Parents/guardians are welcome to come and celebrate their students' success.  Please see the attached flyer for details.

3. Does your child want to learn to play a band instrument?  It is time to sign up for band camp.  Your beginning music student will learn the basics of playing their chosen band instrument.  Your returning music student will receive instruction appropriate to their ability level.  Band camp is July 24-28 from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm and costs less than a week of childcare! Payments cover the cost of lessons with specialists on your child's instrument and t-shirts for students. Please complete the attached form with payment by June 30.  You may mail the form and payment to the school by June 30 or send the form and payment by your child before next Friday, May 26.  Questions?  Email Mrs. Owens at towens@pinnacleclassicalacademy.com

4. **Now is the time to sign up for band camp.  Band camp will be held from 8:00-3:00, July 24-28.  The cost of the band camp is $125.  Instructors who specialize in different instruments will be available to help you progress on your instrument.  See Mrs. Owens for a band camp form.

5. May 22 - It's that time of year PCA. Our school's robotics teams are looking for new members. We have FTC (First Tech Challenge) for rising 8th-12th grade and FLL (First Lego League) for rising 6th-8th grade. Applications can be found in the front office, Mrs. Falls’ room 215, the upstairs media center, and Mrs. Austin's room 211. These are due by May 22, 2023.

6. ***Construction Begins***

Parents, we are excited to begin construction of Phase II at the 4-12 Campus. Please remind your child(ren) they should not cross the fencing around the construction area. Students should not communicate with construction workers. Construction workers will not be in the building without an escort by Mr. Clary, Officer Hopper, or an Admin Team member.

7. Rising 7th Graders Immunization - Students entering 7th grade are required to have one dose of Tdap (tetanus, diptheria, pertusis) vaccine and one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine for individuals who have not already received those vaccines.  Please see the attached letter for additional information.

1. End of Grade or End of Course Testing - Middle school students will be completing teacher-made finals and EOG/EOCs the week of May 22nd to May 26th.  Reteaching/Retesting will take place from May 30th to June 1st.

2. Middle School Awards Day- May 26th -  Middle School Awards Day will be held in the upper campus at 10 am.  Parents/guardians are welcome to come and celebrate their students' success.  Please see the attached flyer for details.

3. **Now is the time to sign up for band camp.  Band camp will be held from 8:00-3:00, July 24-28.  The cost of the band camp is $125.  Instructors who specialize in different instruments will be available to help you progress on your instrument.  See Mrs. Owens for a band camp form.

4. May 22 - It's that time of year PCA. Our school's robotics teams are looking for new members. We have FTC (First Tech Challenge) for rising 8th-12th grade and FLL (First Lego League) for rising 6th-8th grade. Applications can be found in the front office, Mrs. Falls’ room 215, the upstairs media center, and Mrs. Austin's room 211. These are due by May 22, 2023.

1. Senior Baskets- Friday, April 28th-  Dear Parents, 

 With graduation drawing close, the middle school staff wants to honor the Senior Class of 2023.  Starting with the Class of 2020, baskets were presented to each senior during the week of their graduation activities.  Our school wants to continue this tradition.  We ask for your participation to help make these baskets memorable for students.  Each senior compiled a list of favorite items such as places to shop and eat, foods, candy, hobbies, etc.  Our goal is to fulfill at least 4 baskets with the help of your donations.  I have included pictures of the baskets donated by our middle school previously as well as a sign-up genius link.  The link provides items for the Class of 2023. All items should be returned by Friday, April 28.  Students may bring these to the homeroom teacher labeled Class of 2023.  Your help is greatly appreciated as we show our support for PCA's graduates.

2. April 17th-21st - The Scholastic Book Fair will be at the 4-12 campus the week we return from spring break (April 17-21). 

• 6th-12th grade students can shop from 7:30-8:00, Monday-Thursday (April 17-20). 

• They may also shop Friday, April 21st, from 9:00 am-12:00 pm (parent-teacher conference day).

There are some immediate changes that need to occur due to construction.

Arrival:

ALL students (4th -12th) should be dropped off on the elementary side beginning tomorrow, March 24. 

Student drivers may still park on the high school side.

Dismissal:

Students who usually are dismissed from the high school side will continue to do so - but will be exiting from a different doorway.  We will have extra staff members outside to direct students.  Traffic flow will stay the same.  We ask that you be extra cautious when you are driving on campus as we begin this transition

 We are thrilled to begin construction on Phase II. I am sure there will be inconveniences in the upcoming year, but the end result will be worth it!

Parents, we are excited to begin construction of Phase II at the 4-12 Campus. Please remind your child(ren) that they should not cross the fencing around the construction area. Students should not communicate with construction workers. Construction workers will not be in the building without an escort by Mr. Clary, Officer Hopper, or an Admin Team member.

3. April 21st – The Dare to Soar Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament will be held on April 21st.  The registration deadline is April 7th.  Please see the attached flyer for additional details.

4. April 14th – Spring Pictures were taken on March 14th and 15th.  Orders are due by April 14th.

5. March 16- 17 – There will be no school for students on March 16th and 17th.

6. Tuesdays and Thursdays in March – Easter Candy Grams are being sold during the month of March at lunchtime in room 225.  The cost is $0.50.  Please see the attached flyer for additional information.

7. Deadline, March 31st – K-8 Yearbook order forms went home.  The cost for each yearbook is $30.  Please see the attached order form.

Please note: Norris Merchandise is selling some PCA items with hoods - these items are NOT approved spirit wear. 1. Winter Break -- Monday, December 19 is the last day of classes for students before our break.  This is a make-up day for exams and testing.  Students return on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

2. Reminder with flu season upon us:

If a student is ill, he/she should not attend school. Please keep a student home in the morning if any of the symptoms listed below are present. If any of these symptoms develop during the school day, we will call you to pick up your student. Keep ill students home until the student has been symptom-free for 24 hours, and/or if they: have a fever of 100° or higher, vomiting or diarrhea, evidence of a severe head cold, persistent cough, or sore throat, or there is evidence of a suspicious rash or other contagious conditions (pink eye, head lice, ringworm, etc.).

3. NO Hoodies!!  As the weather changes, this is a friendly reminder that students are not allowed to wear hoodies inside the building.  This includes tucking them inside their hoodie or jacket.  If students typically stay cold, they will need an approved sweatshirt or jacket with NO hood attached to wear inside the classrooms and building.  Thank you for helping with this school rule/procedure.

7. The PCA Bake Sale will be Thursday, December 1st. All proceeds will go to the Dare to Soar Scholarship Fund. The details are in the attached flyer.

8. Our Middle School Team is excited to offer the opportunity for our students to enjoy a delicious lunch on Thursday, December 8th. This will be prepared by a local restaurant, Taste of the Town. The form was given to your child this week and is also attached. Please return the exact money amount in an envelope marked with the student’s first and last name and the form to your student’s homeroom teacher by Thursday, December 1st.

9. In honor of veterans and their service to our country, we would like to partner with our PCA family and community to spread holiday cheer to some of our selfless servicemen and women! We will be collecting donations and writing Christmas cards for a group of veterans at the Bath VA Medical Center located in Bath, N.Y. We invite all of you to participate in this wonderful opportunity! All Christmas cards and donations may be dropped off in the upstairs media center. Items that can be donated are listed on the attached flyer. We will be accepting donations from now through Wednesday, December 14th. Thank you in advance for your support! 

10. i-Ready Challenge -- All middle school students have the opportunity to participate in our 2nd nine weeks incentive.  The details are listed in the attached flyer.  Please encourage your student to reach their weekly goals.

Weekly Updates and Reminders and Athletic Announcements- 11/10/2022

1. Thanksgiving Break -- Wednesday, November 23 -- Friday, November 25 --  NO School for Students or Staff. 

2. Reminder with flu season upon us:

If a student is ill, he/she should not attend school. Please keep a student home in the morning if any of the symptoms listed below are present. If any of these symptoms develop during the school day, we will call you to pick up your student. Keep ill students home until the student has been symptom-free for 24 hours, and/or if they: have a fever of 100° or higher, vomiting or diarrhea, evidence of a severe head cold, persistent cough, or sore throat, or there is evidence of a suspicious rash or other contagious conditions (pink eye, head lice, ringworm etc.).

3. The PCA Bake Sale will be Thursday, November 1st. All proceeds will go to the Dare to Soar Scholarship Fund. The details are in the attached flyer.

4. Our Middle School Team is excited to offer the opportunity for our students to enjoy a delicious lunch on Thursday, December 8th. This will be prepared by a local restaurant, Taste of the Town. The form was given to your child this week and is also attached. Please return the exact money amount in an envelope marked with the student’s first and last name and the form to your student’s homeroom teacher by Thursday, December 1st.

5. In honor of veterans and their service to our country, we would like to partner with our PCA family and community to spread holiday cheer to some of our selfless servicemen and women! We will be collecting donations and writing Christmas cards for a group of veterans at the Bath VA Medical Center located in Bath, N.Y. We invite all of you to participate in this wonderful opportunity! All Christmas cards and donations may be dropped off in the upstairs media center. Items that can be donated are listed on the attached flyer. We will be accepting donations from now through Wednesday, December 14th. Thank you in advance for your support! 

6. i-Ready Challenge -- All middle school students have the opportunity to participate in our 2nd nine weeks incentive.  The details are listed in the attached flyer.  Please encourage your student to reach their weekly goals.    

7. NO Hoodies!!  As the weather changes, this is a friendly reminder that students are not allowed to wear hoodies inside the building.  This includes tucking them inside their hoodie or jacket.  If students typically stay cold, they will need an approved sweatshirt or jacket with NO hood attached to wear inside the classrooms and building.  Thank you for helping with this school rule/procedure.

8. November 28th - December 2nd – Students have the opportunity to dress up for PCA Spirit Week.  See the attached flyer for details.  Students who choose not to participate in the theme for the day need to dress in school uniform.

9. December 2nd Calendar UPDATE - We will be having our 2nd Annual Homecoming Parade on December 2nd in Uptown Shelby. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 on this day.

10. Every Friday will be School Spirit Day. Students may wear PCA spirit wear tops (athletic eagle logo) with uniform bottoms on Fridays. Please note: Norris Merchandise is selling some PCA items with hoods - these items are NOT approved spirit wear. Per the dress code, students may not wear hoodies or hooded jackets inside the building at any time.
    
    

11. Cell phones and all other personal electronic devices (including but not limited to smartwatches, MP3 players, personal computers/laptops, video games, tablets, etc.) are NOT allowed at school during the school day. Any personal electronic device found during the day will be confiscated. Refer to the school website for the full technology policy.
    
    

12. Dress Code Reminder: Make sure students are following the school dress code. Please remember that students may not wear hoodies or hooded jackets inside the building at any time.  Please make sure that all student clothing, including jackets, coats, shoes, and socks, conforms to the dress code. Refer to the school website for guidelines. If violations occur, teachers/staff will issue a written notice of uniform violation that must be signed by the parent and returned to the school.

If you would like to submit a photo of a family member who has served in the armed forces, we would love to display them at the ceremony.  Please submit a copy of their picture along with their name and dates of service to hfouts@pinnacleclassicalacademy.com.  Any pictures of veterans that served will be accepted.  They do not have to be a family member of a Pinnacle student.  Thank you for your support in honoring those who have served.   Please see the attached flyer for additional information.
