The Pingree Writing Center is an inclusive, intellectually safe space where all visitors are empowered to ask questions and seek support throughout the writing process to improve communication and thinking skills.
Your writing style and citation format will depend on the discipline you are writing for. Chicago Style is typically used within History, Business, and Fine Arts, while MLA (Modern Language Association) is used within English and other Humanities. APA (American Psychological Association) is used for behavioral and social sciences, including sociology, education, health sciences, criminal justice, and anthropology, as well as psychology. Always check with your teacher to make sure you are using the correct format.
Purdue OWL (Purdue University Online Writing Lab) is a one-stop site for most of your citation needs. It not only has citation information, but also information on paper formatting, writing suggestions, grammar, and mechanics.
