Academic Accommodations
To be considered for academic accommodations, a student must have a current Neuropsychological Exam Report (within the past four years) sent to the Director of Educational Resources. Academic accommodations at Pingree are based on the recommendations in the Neuropsychological report and our ability to provide the specific accommodations.
Academic Accommodations may include the following:
Extended time on tests and in-class writing assessments (50%).
May test in a separate setting if requested and reasonable.
May use a computer for notetaking and in-class writing assessments.
May use a calculator for science and math exams.
The Director of Educational Resources will create an individualized Pingree Learning Plan (PLP) and will meet with students to discuss their accommodations and how to access them. The PLP will be shared with advisors and teachers.
Prior to requesting to use your academic accommodations make sure that all your paperwork is on file and updated with the ERC.
Checklist for Requesting to use your Academic Accommodations for Pingree Assessments:
Let your teacher know by email that you want to use your accommodations for an upcoming assessment. In the email, include:
The date of your test
The block of the class
When during the day of the test (block or time) do you plan to use the extended time
Copy (CC) or forward Mrs. Lyons the email.
Checklist for Requesting to use your Academic Accommodations for SAT / ACT:
For PSAT / SAT:
Mrs. Lyons will need to submit an application for you to the College Board at the beginning of your sophomore year. Make sure that all documentation is submitted and up to date.
For ACT:

Attention Deficit Disorder:
Diagnosis of ADHD:
There is no single test to diagnose ADHD, and many other problems, like sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, and certain types of learning disabilities, can have similar symptoms.
How is ADHD diagnosed?
Healthcare providers use the guidelines in the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Fifth edition (DSM-5)1, to help diagnose ADHD. This diagnostic standard helps ensure that people are appropriately diagnosed and treated for ADHD. Using the same standard across communities can also help determine how many children have ADHD, and how public health is impacted by this condition.
