Ms. Tran lost her cow and we need to decrypt 5 clues encrypted with Caesar and multidigit cipher to tell us how to locate her cow. Jessie was my partner.
We used Caesar Cipher decryption code and tried out every letter from 1 - 26. Then we looked through all 26 possible outcomes and found the right message.
Clue 1: after seeing the hoof prints on the football field, Ms. Tran knows her cow has gone missing! She is panicking! Can you help get the cow back?
After decrypting the first code, we got the message: the cow walked from the football field away from Ms. Tran, so the cow is now lost.
Clue 2: Beckett said she saw JH kids having fun with cow and eating mint candies together near the Cue Quad.
After decrypting the second code, we got the message: The cow is at the Cue Quad.
Clue 3: Hattie mention seeing a broken jar of mint candies In the office when she tried to get one for herself.
After decrypting the third code, we got the message: The cow is In the office and took a mint.
Clue 4: Sabrina found a mint wrapper near the Murphy patio with a scribbled note: call me at 650806
After decrypting the fourth code, we got the message:The cow Is near the Murphy Patio now because it a mint. The phone number is part of the solution.
For our last clue, we added the phone number from clue four into the first six digits of our 10 digit key. We used lop to find all possible decryptions. We used command f on the computer to find the right decryption, based on what we knew.
The message was:
The cow broke the candy jar while trying to get his favoraite snack. No one stole him; he walked to Ms. Sanchez's office to get candy, then hung out with the JH kids.
Reflections:
Strength - I was very helpful for my parter since she was the one who had the code.
Opportunities - I was not here the day everyone wrote the code so I didn't really do much on my know. I would've had many more opportunities to try code out If I had the code.
Understanding - I understood how encrypting and decryting code works.
Limitations - I didn't have any code T_T
