Description: Design and create a pair animal figurines utilizing recycled bottle corks. Students design on TinkerCad and prototype using the 3D printers. The design process consists of brainstorming, researching, Cading, 3D printing, and repeating until students are happy with their final products.
Brainstorm: I was first inspired by a cute polar bear on the internet, but I thought maybe a walrus was better and more artistic, also the fact of plagiarism. I also choose to print a mouse as kind of a starting animal, not to hard, but not to easy.
Procedure:
1.Choose a cork and measure the diameters on both sides.
2.Create a rings according to the measurements of the corks, and test if it fits.
3.Design the top and bottom of the cork based on your animal of choice on TinkerCAD.
4.When satisfied, print the animal figurines on the 3D printers.
SOUL Reflection:
S -I think my Walrus and Mouse structure worked well
O -I think some of the prints of the Walrus head were confusing and I had to print it multiple times
U -I learned that I always need to add supports
L - Nothing prevented me from having a successful project
WISCR - I think I was really self motivated and that prevented me from giving up. I also think both me and my project, my mouse and walrus really did turn out well, and I was insightful and critical.
