Project Desc-
This major final project is to make a skittles dispenser! The main criteria is to dispense at least 5 skittles, and use microbit to code it!
Brainstorming-
We were inspired with the cute design of a bubble gum machine! We thought it be a nice base to start this project. Our design represents skittles as it has cute skittle drawings all over it. It also includes a slightly ironical quote, "One skittle a day, Keeps the doctor away!" We replaced apple with skittle to mace it funny! We did not use much research, we just searched up bubblegum machine pics/refrences. we drew a brainstorm, but it didn't really go as planned, we basically switched the idea!
<--- Our basic design
(didn't really follow)
Procedure-
1) Laser cutted all the necessary pieces for the project
2) 3d printer swirl mechanism for skittles
3) hot glue assembling, and coding
4) DECORATION!!! And some problem solving and quick fixes
The main revision is that instead of a cubical base, we did a trapezoid pyramid 3d shape, and we also added a swirly mechanism which we thought would be cool.
Reflection-
S- i feel like our main strength for our project was creativity. I thought our design was cool, and it was interesting how we incorporated a spiral sort of shape to dispense the skittles.
O- I believe that our areas of improvement was the actual smootheness in general, of the dispenser. The spiral and components were slightly rough. Also time management was a key thing we could improve!
U- I learned how to use microbit, and how to problem solve through the learning experiences of trial and error. Definitely A TON of trial and errors especially in the spiral component.
L- We were slightly limited because of the time. and i feel like we were holding back because we thought we had and okay time for the project, turning out we didn't. The resources were not that limited though!
Wiscr-
S - Self motivated: I chose this because I feel like we were motivated in this project, and wanted to finish it. We also used some time at lunch to work on this project.
R - Respectful individuals: I also chose this as my second, "WISCR", and it's because our group respected each others opinions and worked quite well together. We made progress too!
I'm sorry, I wasn't sure how to rotate the images, there wasn't an option! 😅
