All sports currently offered at the middle school level (basketball, baseball, volleyball, softball, soccer, cross country, cheerleading, and dance) will be continuing at the Upper School. We are also looking to add more sports, including, but not limited to, lacrosse, swimming, golf, and flag football, depending on student interest, facility access, and opportunities for competition. Similar to the processes at the Middle School, we will use community fields, like Womble Park and Sugg Farm, for practices and games. We currently do not have space for any on-site fields.
While specific club offerings are dependent on student interest, we aim to have an assortment of clubs for students to get involved in and pursue leadership opportunities in. Some examples include National Honor Society, Student Council, and any student interest clubs. Students can take advantage of a unique leadership opportunity by starting a new club and serving as a founding member, and being a founding member of a newly established club provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate initiative and leadership.
We get lots of questions about what type of college and career supports students will receive while at the Upper School. Students will have access to counseling services, as well as academic assistance with registering for courses, both at PSPA and at Wake Tech.
YES! This is a common question we receive, and we totally hear your concerns about your student having a meaningful and engaging high school experience. While we will not host traditional tackle football year one, students will be able to participate in "traditional" high school experiences, including, but not limited to, Pep Rallies, Homecoming, Spirit Weeks, and more! Student life is important to the culture of PSPA's Upper School.
