Our purpose is to protect pollinators and to raise awareness. We want more people to know about pollinators, to care about them and to protect them. By protecting pollinators, we are protecting our food systems and our future. They need us and we need them!

Since 2018, 3rd grade Pioneers have been writing letters to Mayors in and around Wake County, asking them to sign the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge.  This pledge helps promote awareness and protects and creates habitat for monarch butterflies and all pollinators.  Thanks to our 3rd grade “world changers”, all 12 Wake County mayors have participated in this important program as well as 4 mayors outside of Wake County.

In 2023, our pollinator-protecting Pioneers are up to more great things!  They have created a website that highlights 3 outreach programs designed to spread the word that pollinators need our help.  Bee Smarter Plant Harder, Pizza Without Pollinators and the No Pesticide Pledge all aim to create awareness in our community and beyond.  We can all help pollinators and these 3rd graders are certainly leading the way!
