Student Syllabus
Dear Students,
As a 25+ year Professional in the Technology Industry, I was previously a Digital Care Manager for Waste Management, a Contact Center Manager for Endurance International Group, a Telecommunications and Computer Support Manager for Cox Communications, , and a Communications NCO in the United States Army Special Operations Command. In my current role, I serve as the Director of Technology, and Computer Science Teacher for Pine Eagle School District. I am a Pacific Northwest native and devote my volunteer time to veterans and disadvantaged youth organizations. I have also served as Senior Vice Commander of an American Legion Chapter, and a Volunteer Juvenile Probation Officer where I received the Volunteer of the Year award. I look forward to having your student in my Computer Science Classes, and look forward to meeting you soon.
My Classroom Management philosophy:
The classroom management philosophy I use will pull from 3 different classroom management philosophies. During the beginning of the school year, I will pull from Sayanti’s approach and have very clear expectations of the where, how, and when to do things as students enter the classroom, prepare to engage the material, and work with each other, and myself in the classroom. There will be no negotiation, as I set the tone for how all students are expected to act in the classroom. As the class progresses, I will pull from Wong's approach, and ensure the students understand their responsibilities in following the rules, and the impact that not following the rules has on the amount of learning that can be accomplished. As we get deeper into the semester or school year, I will pull from Kegan’s approach by building same side relationships with each individual student. This will help foster deeper relationships, and identify the reasons students misbehave when and if they do. This will also help to find long term solutions for students rather than the typical power struggle associated with misbehavior, and correction.
Communication
Communication of student’s weekly assignments and weekly progress with be uploaded to the Pine Eagle School District Student Information System (Synergy) for students and parents to review at any time during the school year. Students will also be updated weekly in class of their current progress. Students and Parents will be notified if a student is missing 2 or more assignments, or their grade drops 2 or more grades.
