Brief Biography
Prof. Suryanarayana Jammalamadaka is a distinguished Professor of Physics at IIT Hyderabad, renowned for his pioneering contributions to nanomagnetism, quantum transport, and advanced device physics. He earned his M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Hyderabad and his Ph.D. from IIT Madras, where his doctoral work was honored with the Prof. A. L. Laskar Award for Best Thesis. He subsequently held prestigious postdoctoral positions at TIFR Mumbai, the National University of Singapore, KU Leuven in Belgium. He was a DAAD Fellow at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany. At IIT Hyderabad, he established the Magnetic Materials and Device Physics Laboratory, advancing research in magnetic thin films and devices, quantum point contact dynamics, conductance quantization, memristive devices, neuromorphic computing, optical memristors, magnetostrictive materials, neural network simulations and micromagnetic simulations. His prolific output includes more than 80 publications in high-impact international journals, 9 patents, and the successful graduation of 10 Ph.D. scholars, with several more currently under his mentorship. Prof. Jammalamadaka is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (FInstP), Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), Senior IEEE Member, DAAD Fellow, Co-Chair of the IEEE Nanotechnology Hyderabad Chapter, and Associate Fellow of the Telangana Academy of Sciences, in addition to being a life member of multiple scientific societies such as MSI, IPA, EMSI, and MRSI. Widely respected as a reviewer for leading international journals, he continues to bridge fundamental physics with practical applications, positioning himself as a leading figure in magnetic thin films, quantum-inspired memory technologies, memristor devices and interdisciplinary science.
