Beware of scam scholarships. Two rules of thumb will help safeguard you from scholarship scams:
1) If you have to give money to get money, it might be a scam. 2) If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Your college/trade school. The schools you are applying to may have automatic scholarships based on your GPA, class rank, and/or test scores. They may also have additional scholarships that you have to apply for. Visit school websites to see if you qualify.

Use search engines to find national scholarship opportunities. These sites simplify your search by sending you scholarship matches.
Create a profile where you can save scholarship applications for later or receive notifications when a scholarship matching your skillset is posted. Scholarship sites should also let you filter awards by specific categories and characteristics, such as your location, grade point average (GPA) or ethnicity. Narrowing down scholarships is important because you’re more likely to win awards that pertain to your unique talents and interests.
