Response to Intervention (RTI) is our educational approach allowing educators to succeed with all students. Our goal is to help students in math by accurately assessing the starting point and end goal for success in the intervention program. Continual progress monitoring is an important aspect of our assessment program. The assessment data is used to make educational decisions for all students. Small group instruction is a key component of Math RTI. The ability to work on individual or group instruction needs is the premise behind the class. The content of the class will range from below-grade-level work to on-grade-level work to possibly future skill identifiers that your student may use.
Math has strands of skills in which the goal at the end of RTI is that each student has an understanding or mastery of the individual topics. Common Core is broken into strands which would include: Algebraic Operations, Numbers and Operations, Measurements and Data, Geometry, Ratio and Proportional Relationships, Expressions and Equations, Statistics and Probability, and Algebra.
Math RTI reteaches and reinforces any skill that a student is not proficient in. A portion of RTI is based on their mastery of grade-level standards. Students may excel or struggle with any combination of math concepts.
