An Evening of Jazz is this week!!!

DATE: Friday, February 6, 2026

TIME: 6:30 PM (doors open at 6:00 PM)

LOCATION: St. Mark Missionary Church, 55240 Bittersweet Ave.

PERFORMERS: Advanced Jazz, Jazz Combo, Intermediate Jazz, After School Jazz (ASJO), Discovery Middle School Jazz, and Concord Jazz.

TICKETS: Performers do not need a ticket, but everyone else does, including students.

Jazz Students’ Schedule Information:

Wednesday, 2/4 right after school: Students load the trailer to move equipment to St. Mark. Unload and set-up.

Thursday, 2/5 Rehearsal schedule at St. Mark: ASJO 3:45-5:15 PM, Intermediate 5:30-7:00 PM, Advanced 7:00-8:30 PM.

Friday, 2/6 Advanced and Intermediate jazz classes will work with the guest artist during 3rd and 4th block (one class each block). Mr. Griesser will communicate that schedule. He will also communicate the call time. 

Opportunities to Support An Evening of Jazz

We are excited for An Evening of Jazz on Friday, February 6th, a signature event showcasing our talented jazz students. This evening also serves as an important fundraising opportunity, and we are reaching out to our generous band community for support. There are several ways you can help: 

1. Become a Dessert Sponsor

We are seeking donors to help fund the dessert offerings served at the event. Any monetary donation is appreciated or if you know any business owners that may be interested in supporting our musicians, all sponsors will be acknowledged that evening.

2. Donate Items for the Silent Auction

Do you own or work for a business that can offer a product or service? Items may stand alone or be paired with others to create themed baskets.  We will happily set your business cards by the item.

Examples include:

·       Salon services (haircut, color, manicure, massage)

·       Auto services (oil change, tire rotation)

·       Restaurant gift certificates

·       Artwork, personal training, pet services, mobile car detailing

·       Any talent or service you can provide!

3. Create a Themed Basket

If you don’t own a business, you can still contribute by assembling a themed basket. Some ideas:

·       Pet Basket – treats, toys, grooming items

·       Bookworm – books, socks, snacks

·       Taco Tuesday – salsa, chips, themed items

·       Spa Day – face masks, scrubs, bath bombs

·       Coffee Lovers – beans, mugs, French press

Hobby or fandom themes (gardening, scrapbooking, Star Wars, Taylor Swift), game night, puzzles, chocolate lovers, and more!

4. Support the Student Basket Competition

Each music class will design and create a basket for the silent auction. This teaches students about community involvement and fundraising—and the class whose basket raises the most wins bragging rights!

If you are able to donate an item or basket, please contact Kate Melody at katemelody98@gmail.com to coordinate drop‑off or pick‑up.

5. Participate the Night Of

If donating isn’t possible, you can still support the program by purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets and bidding on silent auction items at the event.

**A congrats to the Colorguard for their first competition!  **

- Many of you performed at ISSMA and at the IHSCGA event at Goshen yesterday and We had many who earned ISSMA medals and we put two fabulous shows on the floor for our first competition at Goshen. Congratulations Everyone!  Thank you too to all the parents that stepped in and filled in extra positions to help make sure the students had a great experience.  

Excited about trivia night- with pasta bar and silent auction coming February 16th!  Can’t wait to see who takes home bragging rights. Mr Landoll is gathering his team - who are you bringing with you?  Get your tickets soon!

Good Afternoon!

I have some updated information on the Winter Guard Trivia Night and wanted to remind you about the Band Booster meeting tomorrow at 7 PM. 

Band Booster Meeting - Tomorrow, Monday, 1/12/26 at 7:00 PM. We love to have everyone come! Remember if you have a child in a Penn Band or Guard, you are a Band Booster. Please join us! We will meet in Music C. Just enter Door C and follow the signs. 

An Evening of Jazz

Restaurant Giveback Night – Tomorrow!

On Monday, 1/5/26 the Winter Guard is hosting a restaurant giveback night at Chick-fil-A on Main Street in Mishawaka. Refuel yourself after first day back to school!!! Just show the attached flier (printed or digital) between 4 – 8 PM. You can use it inside or in the drive-thru. IDEA: Make copies and put them around at work and post on your social media sites!! Whatever spreads the word.

Friday, 11/14: Football playoff game (season passes are not valid for playoff games). Volunteer Pep Band report to the Band Room at 6 PM for a short rehearsal. Students will leave after halftime.

*WINTER GUARD AUDITIONS HIGH SCHOOL WINTER GUARD AUDITIONS **(Location Edit)**

Winter Guard auditions will occur Tuesday Nov. 18th (Dance Studio) and Wednesday Nov. 19th (Fitness Center) from 6:30-9pm. Auditioning students are expected to attend both evenings.

-Current 8th graders that are a part of the PMK color guard CAN audition for the JV and Varsity teams.

Weapon Auditions for any returning color guard students will occur Thursday Nov. 20th. from 6:30-9 in the AUX GYM. This is not required but highly encouraged.

If your band fee is paid in full for this year, you can continue to earn RaiseRight credit toward your 2026-2027 band fees, fees for new shoes, Pep Band shirts, ISSMA Solo & Ensemble fees, etc. The next physical card order will be placed on November 1st. Place your order by October 31st at midnight! (E-card orders and Ship-to-home orders can be placed at easy time.) Also, consider making use of the online shopping rebates available through RaiseRight for additional credit!

As new members enroll, they may receive an email from me asking for:

The name of the student

Their section (instrument)

Their graduation year

Relationship to the student

Sending this information helps to guarantee your earnings are credited to the right student. Please remember that we limit RaiseRight enrollment to the close family of your student.  Good Afternoon!

Oh, my goodness, yesterday’s Semi-State competition was AMAZING!!! I was so proud of our band and there were so many directors, staff, and parents that made the day a success. Thank you!

Mr. Landoll will attend a meeting on Monday to find out the detailed schedule and plan for Saturday’s State competition at Lucas Oil Stadium. We will pass along the details once we have them.

PARENTS: We have a tradition of doing a special sendoff at the end of rehearsal. Please plan to arrive at 8:45 PM in the football stadium. Stay tuned for details! 

Friday, Nov 7th: Football playoff game (season passes are not valid for playoff games). The entire band will perform at the game. We will perform our competitive show for halftime and then leave after halftime. Please let Mr. Landoll know ASAP if there are any conflicts.

PMK SNACK SHOP

The Band Boosters run a snack shop every Tuesday during the season to offer healthy, low-cost snack options to the marching band before their after-school practice. Volunteering to sell snacks is a fun and easy way to support the band. Volunteer time slots are from 2:45-3:45. Please sign-up!
