Writing

Lucy Calkins continuum will allow extensive opportunities for children to write on topics they care about while providing explicit and sequenced instruction that helps with progression of writing ability.

The units we study in second grade from Lucy Calkins include:

• Opinion writing

• Informational writing

• Narrative writing

We will also use our basal reader and additional curriculum to teach responding to text and other writing techniques, such as RACE.
