Certifications

NOCTI

All 12th grade AVID students are required to take the Pennsylvania state assessment (NOCTI) for our CTE program. Students that successfully pass the NOCTI exam in Communications Technology will receive PA SOARS articulation credits. SOARS is a state-wide college articulation program for students to receive multiple college credit. For Example; Sports Marketing students passing the NOCTI and graduating may receive up to nine (9) college credits at Community College of Philadelphia.

Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)

Students in CTE Programs of Study are required to take an industry recognized certification exam to complete their CTE program. Successfully attaining an industry certification can add value to a students’ resume, potential for employment, and college applications. Some colleges offer equivalent college credit for an industry certification. Industry recognized certifications are awarded to students that successfully pass exams in Microsoft Office Specialist PowerPoint, Word, Excel (MOS) and have earned more than one certification. (Roughly 60 industry certifications are earned by AVID students each year.)

AP

The AP Program is an academically rigorous program available to ALL students at Northeast High School, including AVID Students. AVID students may substitute regular courses with AP courses upon approval of the SLC Coordinator and Department Chair.

Articulations
