Hello and Welcome!
My name is Mrs. Adell Shaw. I am currently entering my 18th year of teaching in the School District of Philadelphia. This year will be my 7th year teaching sixth grade and my fourth year in a content specific classroom focusing solely on Math & Science.
I grew up in Philadelphia, PA and was educated in a Catholic elementary school and then completed both my middle and senior high school years in a private school located in Central, PA.
I graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. While in college, I became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in the Spring of 2000. December 2002, I graduated from Clarion with a BS.Ed in Elementary Education with a minor in Creative Writing.
I began working for the School District of Philadelphia as a substitute teacher and later received my permanent appointment as a 2nd grade teacher at Henry R. Edmunds Elementary School. Taking the advice of my former assistant principal, I obtained my Master's Degree and graduated from the nation's first and oldest Historically Black College and University (HBCU), Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, with a M.Ed in School Leadership and a Principal's Certification from the State of Pennsylvania. I eventually taught, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade. For the past several years, I've been coaching Middle School Girls' Volleyball! #LadyEagles
Fate led me to marry my true soul mate and best friend! Gosh, he's a wonderful man! We added a Boston Terrier puppy to our family, and over the last four years, he's brought so much joy to our lives!
