First Quarter Text: Save Me A Seat by Sarah Weeks and Gita Varadarajan
Save Me a Seat takes a deep dive into the perspective of two 10-year-old boys to show that the assumptions we make about other people are often wrong. 4ELA -

Students will keep a notebook for daily notes and homework. The expectation is that homework is completed by Friday. However, notebook check will always be at the end of a month.
Read for 20 minutes every night. Parents will sign a nightly reading log.
Grammar Practice: Students will practice grammar from their weekly lesson.
Lexia: Students must complete at least 45 minutes of Lexia each week for a weekly grade. Time to complete Lexia will be given during class.
Students will be assessed daily with formative assessments such as exit tickets and reviews.
Summative assessments such as quizzes and tests will be announced with at least 2 days notice.
Standardized Testing and Diagnostics (Star, Lexia, PSSA) will be announced and prepared for in class.

Culminating Task:
*No two people see the world in exactly the same way, which can lead to misunderstandings and biases. In order to explore this idea of perception versus reality, students will be writing a narrative with a partner on one day in the life of a 4th grader as two different characters, each experiencing the same day from two totally different perspectives.
