The National Italian Honor Society for High School Students, is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Italian. The purpose of this program is to give recognition to achievements in Italian as well as to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of Italian culture and civilization. The Keystone Chapter provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding scholarship in the study of Italian language through the wearing the official pin of the honor society. Students in grades 12 who meet the following requirements are recommended by teachers to apply. The application include a well-written, topic-driven essay, reviewed by a faculty committee.
The following qualifications are required for induction:
Completion of Italian I, Italian II and third year of Italian III/ IB Italian
Current enrollment in fourth year of Italian or higher
Cumulative 95% of above average for overall studies in Italian courses in semester prior to induction.
Cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 of above for overall studies in all subjects
At least 20 hours requirement of community service and perfect meetings attendance in Italian Club as a member or officer
No disciplinary or attendance issues
