Most, if not all, of the students in the Italian program at Northeast are non-native speakers who become very comfortable with the language over the years of taking this class. Students in the Italian class are academically strong students who end up scoring very high on the AP and IB exams, along with the National Italian Exam in which many have outstanding scores that have earned them medals, certificates, and even money. Students who take Italian are automatically a part of the Italian club in which they also learn about the Italian culture to integrate its values focused on helping and providing for the community. We host events such as the Teacher Appreciation Event where we show our appreciation to teachers in the Italian way, with food. The Italian club gives students the opportunity to engage in fun activities which include movie night, Secret Santa gift exchanges, and trips such as the Trip to Italy and the Opera!
