WHAT IS GOOGLE CLASSROOM?

Google Classroom (the official on-line platform of the School District of Philadelphia) allows you to see all class assignments as well as submit work, comments, or questions to the teacher. In short, it is a virtual classroom, where students log on to find their teacher and classmates waiting to start the day


HOW DO I ACCESS GOOGLE CLASSROOM?

Your child’s teacher did most of the work. If your child remembers how to log on, they simply go on to their waffle, scroll down to Google Classroom and their new classroom is ready!


HOW DO I FIND ASSIGNMENTS IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM?

Click on the waffle, open Classroom, then click on the name of the classroom you are trying to open. Click on the Classwork tab at the top.


I DON'T KNOW MY CHILD’S ID NUMBER. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

We have attached a link at the end of each page of this website that will ask you a few quick questions. We will get back to you with all of the login information you need. You can also click here to be taken to the form.


WHAT IS THE STREAM TAB IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM?

The Stream tab is where you can see announcements from the teacher for the class.


WHAT IS THE CLASSWORK TAB IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM?

The Classwork tab shows and stores all your child's assignments.


CAN I COMMUNICATE WITH MY CHILD'S TEACHER THROUGH GOOGLE CLASSROOM?

The entire staff of Jenks Academy Elementary School will be using Google Classroom for parent communication. This will be the best way, other than an email, to communicate with teachers. It should make it easier for those of you with more than one child!


CAN I KEEP TRACK OF MY CHILD’S ASSIGNMENTS ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM?

You can keep track of your child's assignments by going on the Classwork tab and looking up individual assignments. You are also able to track your child's grades through the Parent and Family portal found here.

HOW DO I SUBMIT AN ASSIGNMENT ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM?

You can submit an assignment by clicking the "Turn In" button at the right of each assignment. You can also watch the video on how to submit an assignment on Google Classroom page by clicking here.


WHAT IF I’M STILL HAVING TROUBLE WITH GOOGLE CLASSROOM?

Your first point of contact is your child’s teacher(s). If they can’t get to the bottom of the issue, they’ll forward the concern up to the right person so we can sort out the trouble.

We are sorry to see you go! Send Ms. Cottle (scottle@philasd.org) and quick email and she will give you either instructions or a phone call to help you with that.

WHAT IF I NEED MORE SUPPORT ?

Here are some ideas. Look through the email directory, which you can find here: https://acgoldsmith.wixsite.com/jenks/our-faculty. If you are not sure where to start, go with the classroom teacher. He/she will direct your question to the right person.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE COUNSELOR/ NURSE/ DEAN OF STUDENTS’S PHONE NUMBER?

We’ve attached a staff list that you can use to email any Jenks Academy Staff member., which you can find here: https://acgoldsmith.wixsite.com/jenks/our-faculty We will be glad to follow up your email with a phone call. If he/she needs to call you, expect a phone call from an outside (Google) phone number.

THE CHROMEBOOK IS NOT WORKING. WHAT DO I DO?

Starting the week of August 17, Technology Support Centers will be open 5 days/week for families to obtain new Chromebooks, or get help with theirs. Please visit the following link for instructions and contact information:
