Carver Engineering & Science High School is committed to preparing students for postsecondary success by providing meaningful access to college-level coursework while students are still enrolled in high school. One of the most impactful opportunities available to eligible students is Dual Enrollment.
Dual Enrollment allows students to experience the rigor, expectations, and independence of college coursework while earning credits that may reduce time and cost toward a college degree.
Dual Enrollment allows eligible high school students to:
Enroll in college-level courses
Earn official college credit
Build an early college transcript
Develop academic and time-management skills needed for college success
Courses taken through Dual Enrollment appear on the student’s college transcript and may also appear on the high school transcript, depending on the type of enrollment.

(Important distinction for students & families)
Students enroll directly in a college or university
Courses are taught by college faculty
Students earn college credit that becomes part of their permanent college transcript
Credits may transfer to other institutions, depending on the receiving college’s policies
Students may take Dual Enrollment courses at any accredited college or university that offers a dual enrollment program, provided they meet eligibility requirements and receive prior approval from the Carver Counseling Office.
(High School Credit and Possibly College Credit)
Dual Credit Enrollment refers to dual enrolled courses that count toward high school graduation and may also carry college credit.
Dual Credit courses must be taken through an institution approved by the School District of Philadelphia
Approval ensures:
Alignment with SDP graduation requirements
Curriculum rigor and standards
Accurate transcript recording
Not all colleges or universities are approved for Dual Credit purposes
Carver mainly partners with CCP due to robust catalog offerings: SEE COURSES HERE
Courses taken at non-approved institutions may result in college credit only and may not count toward high school graduation requirements.
Students and families should always confirm approval before enrolling.
It is important to research colleges/universities polices on Dual Enrollment & AP Credits
Families are encouraged to explore additional dual enrollment and college & career planning resources provided by the School District of Philadelphia:
