The National Honor Society (NHS) is a national organization focused on scholarship, service, leadership, and character. G.W. Carver High School of Engineering and Science (HSES) in Philadelphia hosts a local chapter of the NHS. Our chapter focuses on a number of projects, including community service and a schoolwide peer tutoring program.

Carver's NHS recruits new members in grades 10-12 twice each year. The application will be available later in the Fall. Further criteria will be specified on application.
Parents, guardians, and community members can help our team in a number of ways, including volunteering and fundraising. Please email the current club advisor, Mr. Malloy, via the staff page for more information.
One of the primary projects for the HSES chapter of the NHS is to coordinate and staff Carver's NHS Peer Tutoring Program. This program has provided peer tutoring in a variety of subjects for students at Carver since 2014! Information on how to sign up for the 2026-2027 school year will be posted soon.

The most successful learners do the following:
Attend every session
Speak up to their tutor when they're confused!
Set acheivable goals for homeowork and studying (15 good minutes is better than an hour of scrolling when it comes to studying!)
Have a journal, planner, or digital to-do list and calendar
Use their tutors to keep them accountable
