Kindred

Dana is a black woman living in 20th century America. She is suddenly brought back in time to the antebellum South, where she has to save a young white boy from drowning. She is transported back many times following this event, each time growing more dangerous. Dana has to figure out how these seemingly random jumps can affect her life in the present day, and what she can do to stop it

Synopsis

Octavia Butler's novel Kindred (1979) explores the difference between learning about the horrors of slavery in history books and experiencing it firsthand through a series of time traveling episodes.
