Graphic Communications

10th Grade. Students learn fundamentals of printing with an introduction to the printing industry. Classroom instruction is combined with real work experience with a focus on all major printing processes. Students develop practical skills in layout, composition, desktop publishing, digital printing, binding and finishing. Graphic Design

11th Grade. This course introduces students to graphic design as a form of visual communication through the use of type, image, form, and color. Classroom instruction is combined with real work experience with a major focus on the design process and producing printed material for commercial applications. Students develop practical skills in design, layout, composition, desktop publishing, computer graphics, and digital printing while learning to think critically, make aesthetic judgments, and become familiar with a variety of tools and techniques used to produce professional-level work. Students are trained in Adobe Illustrator and/or Adobe Photoshop and have the opportunity to take the Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop Certification Test for industry certification. Web Design

11th Grade. This course is structured to give students working knowledge of the web and interactive and mobile media, the scripting languages used in authoring web pages, the graphics programs used in designing visuals for the web, and the design of apps using HTML, CSS, and Javascript programming languages. Students will explore new methods of classroom activities performed via the web and various web 2.0 applications and web-based design on multiple platforms and devices. Film & Video

12th Grade. This course focuses on the process of working on professional video productions with a heavy emphasis on hands-on production experience. Throughout the course, students will create their own photography shoots, news stories, music videos, documentaries and short films. They will learn by working through the three phases of video production: pre-production, production and post-production as they complete multiple projects with a strong focus on industry practices and professionalism. Students will have access to industry-quality camcorders, microphones, lights and video mixers all set within a full television studio. All student work will be completed on Adobe Premiere Pro’s editing suite where they will have the opportunity to take the Adobe Premiere Pro Certification Test for industry certification. Video Game Design

12th Grade. This course prepares students for careers as developers of video games and related software. The curriculum includes instruction in game design and development for console game systems, personal computers, smart phones, and other hand-held devices. While learning about video game development, students also develop math and language skills critical to success in the modern world and preparing for further study in Science, Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) fields.
