National School Choice Week

During the week of January 20-26, Penn Hills Charter School Of Entrepreneurship joined more than 20,000 schools across America in celebrating National School Choice Week (NSCW).

NSCW provides all types of schools with an opportunity to celebrate the positive work that they do and to spotlight students, parents, teachers, and school staff. The celebration is nonpartisan and nonpolitical, and it is not designed to advocate for or against any legislation or public policy.

Here at Penn Hills Charter School Of Entrepreneurship, we are incredibly thankful to the parents who have chosen our school for their children. NSCW is a time to express this gratitude, and we had several fun, in-school activities planned to do just that.

We encouraged all of our parents and supporters to join us in spreading the positive news about Penn Hills Charter School Of Entrepreneurship during NSCW. Many families use NSCW to look into their school options and we want them to know that Penn Hills Charter School Of Entrepreneurship may be a great fit for them.

To kick off this years NSCW Celebration, we held an assembly which incorporated a flash mob of students and staff dancers. This year we celebrated by awarding the classroom winners of our "Door Decorating" challenge and by hosting our Staff vs. Student Basketball Game, where our Girls and Boys Basketball Team took on our staff.

The winners of our National School Choice week "Door Decorating" challenge, goes to Mrs. Warnock's class for Primary Academy, Ms. Amig's class for Intermediate Academy, and Mrs. Collins class for Prep Academy. Congratulations!!!

Community Day

As National School Choice week continues, the students at Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship wanted to express their thanks to local heroes in the community. Elected officials of Soarmania, and the Student Government Association, surprised the Penn Hills Police Department with coffee and donuts to warm up our officers on a chilly January day.

Mayhala Houston, President of Soarmania, presented the award to Police Chief Howard Burton of the Penn Hills Police Department.

The students were also given a tour of the new Penn Hills Municipal building. They explored career opportunities, witnessed the roles and various duties assigned to the officers, and listened to life lessons from Lieutenant Anthony Diulus and Officer Dennis Pape.

The students were even allowed to visit the council chambers were they could see how their current roles at the school could be elevated into a similar role in the community.

The students also visited the local Penn Hills Community Library to express their thanks for their role in supporting the community.

staff vs. student Basketball Game

In recognition of National School Choice Week, the team at Penn Hills Charter School Of Entrepreneurship is grateful to the parents who have chosen PHCSE for their children.

To celebrate NSCW we hosted our first Staff Vs. Student Basketball Game!!

Both our Boy's and Girl's Basketball teams took to the court to square off against our staff members. Both teams gave it their all until the buzzer rang. The students did hold a large 20 point lead during the first 30 mins, but in the end the staff came back with the win. The final score was Staff 45, Students 39.

We at PHCSE give a huge shout out to our boys and girls who played and represented our school with sportsmanship, class, and commitment. Thank you!
