Mrs. Bird 7th Grade Math Teacher - Prairie Heights Middle School
About Mrs. Bird
After two and a half years working at Prairie Heights, first as a substitute, then as a paraprofessional in the Special Education Department, I found a home with the 7th-grade team in the Math Department. The 2026-2027 academic year introduces a new chapter. One where I teach the new (to the middle school) Introduction to Computer Science course, Math Enrichment, and Math Lab.
I have been married for over 20 years, and together, Jonathan and I have two boys: a 19-year-old college sophomore (an Eagle Scout, ROTC Cadet in the National Guard) and a 12-year-old 7th-grader who attends Prairie Heights The three men in my life also founded an Airsoft team and are involved in many charity and veteran affiliated events, some as far away as Louisiana. In our limited free time together, we enjoy watching movies, video games, camping, kayaking, fishing, and hiking. My guilty pleasures include building Lego, Gundam models, watching Anime, cooking food from a variety of cultures, crocheting, reading, and trying to sleep in.
Outside of school, I am actively involved as the Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 792 and the Committee Chair of BSA Cub Pack 3911. A personal passion of mine is helping youth find their confidence and grow as leaders. Anyone interested in more information on Scouting is welcome to come and speak to me.
Students and parents alike can come to me with questions, comments, or concerns and I will address each and every one. I can be contacted during the school day by phone and by email. I will return calls and emails left after 4 p.m. daily on the next working school day.
