Jay spent 13 years in the classroom and 8 years in a behavioral health hospital. He has worked with students of all age levels and abilities. He taught his first year at an academic alternative school, of students who were 2 or more years behind where they should be academically. He taught the remaining 12 years at Long Beach High School, where he taught Anatomy and Physiology, Astronomy, Biology, Graphic Design, Learning Skills, and Spatial Information Science. He served as chairperson for the science department. He also facilitated their credit recovery program after school and over the summer. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from William Carey College in 2004 and a master’s degree in Education Media Design and Technology from Full Sail University in 2103.
