Welcome to Music at Lake Elementary! This is my 12th year at Lake, 21st year in the Pascagoula-Gautier School District and 28th year of teaching overall. Music has always been such a large part of my life from the very beginning. Both of my parents were musicians and they instilled in me a love for music and gave me a wide horizon and appreciation for all types of music, my favorite being Jazz (thank you, Lawrence Welk!). I have been involved in school and church choirs since I was old enough to sing and joined the school band in 4th grade. At the end of my 6th grade year I knew that I wanted to become a band director. I continued my music education throughout Jr. High, High School and college at The University of Southern Mississippi and achieved my goal of a Music Education degree. Since then, I have taught in Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana and have taught Band from beginner to high school, Music Appreciation, Fine Arts and Elementary Music (with some other subjects thrown in such as Typing and Art). What I love most about teaching Music is having the opportunity to instill in children the fundamentals of music that will stay with them for a lifetime; things that can touch their soul when nothing else can; teaching them discipline and structure through artistic freedom and expression.
