Activities Without Technology

Don't let your child's day be filled with screens. Try to incorporate some activities that don't include technology too!

  • Complete a puzzle together.

  • Color or paint what you see outside.

  • Draw a self portrait.

  • Create a comic strip.

  • Write a story.

  • Build things with legos and blocks.

  • Make musical instruments with show boxes and rubber bands.

  • Create a scavenger hunt around the house. You can look for things for each letter of the alphabet, specific shapes, or specific colors.

  • Play outside.

  • Read a book to a sibling, parent, family pet, or even a stuffed animal.

  • Play board games. You could even challenge the kids to create their own board game.

  • Play "minute to win it" type games.

  • Go bowling in the hallway with plastic cups and a lightweight ball. (Don't use glass cups or a ball that is heavy!)

  • Draw a hopscotch game outside and play with your sibling or parents.

  • Move your body for 30 minutes.

  • Let your children help cook. Ask them questions about measurement and sequential order.

  • Use playing cards or number cubes to practice math facts.

  • Practice sorting and counting money with coins.
