Senior Community Service Hours Due Date: April 3
This year all students will be required to complete a required number of community service hours as part of their high school portfolio. The cumulative hour requirement has adjusted for seniors to account for the 2 years of the pandemic. Below are the hour requirements for each grade level.

What is community service?

Community Service Definition:
Community Service is a non-remunerated activity (student cannot receive payment, credit, reward or other compensation for service rendered) whereby a student provides a needed service that directly benefits our community through a professional non-profit organization.
Community Service must take place during non-instructional hours.
*Hours completed for a family member do not count for community service.
How it works:
Students submit a prior approval form to ensure that the community service that they want to perform meets the definition above and will count towards the hours requirement. The approval form is sent via email for students to print out and bring to the event/activity for a supervisor to complete and sign.
After completing the community service, students should hold onto their form until directed to turn it into their Advocacy teacher.
Some advocacy teachers collect and save the forms throughout the year, others have students hold onto them until the due date.

Advocacy Teacher Responsibilities
Collect Community Service Forms - remind students that they should take a picture of each form so that they have a copy for their records
Record each students hours on a blank roster so that you have a hard copy to refer to.
Record the total hours on the Community Service Spreadsheet.
DIRECTIONS FOR ENTERING COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS
Open the Community Service List spreadsheet
Click on the All CS Hours tab at the bottom
Apply the FILTER to pull up just your students
Enter community service hours.
PLEASE do not change or delete another teacher's information or information that is already entered.
