Standard Professional Renewal Information
Standard Professional Certificate I (SPC I) - Valid for 5 Years
*At the issuance of your SPC I certificate, you will be required to complete the items listed on your APC evaluation.
To obtain a SPC II:
Complete 6 semester hours of credit; and
Complete 3 years of satisfactory school-related experience; and
If you hold or have obtained a master's degree or equivalency (36 semester hours of post-baccalaureate course work, 21 of which must be graduate credits from a regionally accredited college or university) you will be accelerated to an Advanced Professional Certificate (APC)
Standard Professional Certificate II (SPC II) - Valid for 5 Years
To obtain an APC:
Complete a Master’s degree; or
The equivalent of 36 semester hours of post-baccalaureate course work, 21 of which must be graduate credits from a regionally accredited college or university; or
Obtain National Board Certification and complete a minimum of 12 semester hours of graduate credit; and
Complete 3 years of satisfactory school-related experience
Depending on your endorsement area, specific courses may be required for this renewal;
If ALL specific endorsement requirements are met for ALL of your endorsement areas, renewal credits can be related to your current content area(s) or future endorsement area.

*Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) Evaluation must be downloaded in Microsoft Excel to be properly viewed.
Red:
Last 4 digits of the educator's social security number
Current legal last name
Current legal first name
Current legal initial of middle name
Previous last name
Indicates the evaluation was completed by PGCPS Certification Office
Orange:
Indicates whether the educator has had 3 years of full-time satisfactory school-related professional experience
Indicates whether the educator has 6 acceptable credits within the last 5 years
Green: Indicates whether there are still required reading courses needed or if any have been met
Blue:
Indicates whether the educator has a master's degree with a minimum of 6 related credits
Indicates whether the educator has National Board Certification
Purple: Indicates what specific courses the educator has completed toward a master's equivalency
