If you have any of the following teaching areas:
Early Childhood
Elementary Education
Special Education Infant-Grade 3 or Grades 1-8
On your Maryland teaching certificate and DO NOT have Reading 12 on your certificate under ANCILLARY CREDITS “Reading credits are required for this renewal”.
How to Read Your Required Reading Course Work Summary - 12 Credits
*Required Reading Course Work Summary must be downloaded in Microsoft Excel to be properly viewed.
Red:
Last 4 digits of educators social security number
Current legal last name
Current legal first name
Current legal initial of middle name
Previous last name
Orange: Indicates the evaluation was completed by PGCPS Certification Office and list how many reading credits the educator currently has
Green: Indicates which content area(s) the educator has listed on their certificate
Blue: Indicates if Processes & Acquisition of Reading Skills has been MET or is still NEEDED
Purple: Indicates if Methods of Reading Instruction has been MET or is still NEEDED
Grey: Indicates if Materials for Teaching Reading has been MET or is still NEEDED
Yellow: Indicates if Assessment for Reading Instruction has been MET or is still NEEDED
If you have any of the following teaching areas:
N-12/K-12 Specialty Areas
Middle School
Library Media Specialist
Secondary Content Areas
Special Education K-12, 6-Adult, Severely and Profoundly Handicapped, Visually Impaired, and Hearing Impaired
On your Maryland teaching certificate and DO NOT have at least Reading 6 on your certificate under ANCILLARY CREDITS “Reading credits are required for this renewal”.

If you have any of the Administrative, Supervisory and/or a Specialist Area on your Maryland teaching certificate and DO NOT have Special Education on your certificate under ANCILLARY CREDITS “A 3 credit Introduction to Special Education Course is required for this renewal”. For all teaching areas this requirement is a Condition of Employment.
If you have School Counselor on your Maryland teaching certificate you are required to take a course in the need for intervention or referral in response to indicators of mental illness and behavioral.
