Trumpet
The trumpet has a very bright sound. In the video to the right, a brass ensemble plays the theme to Star Wars. The trumpets can be seen sitting to the right of the conductor and can be heard playing the melody at the beginning.
Horn in F
Also called the French Horn or just Horn, the Horn in F has a mellow sound. To the right is a beautiful example of the horn's smooth sound. The second video features four horns accompanied by a full orchestra. You will hear the horns begin to play about 30 seconds in to the performance.
Trombone
The trombone is unlike all the other brass instruments. Instead of pressing valves, the trombone has a slide that moves to change pitch!
Baritone/Euphonium
The baritone is a lower voice in the brass section, but not as low as a tuba. It is very similiar to a euphonium, so many students begin on baritone and later play euphonium.
Tuba
The tuba is the lowest instrument in the band. Watch and listen to a professional tuba player demonstrate the instrument.
