Research has shown that starting in kindergarten, if a student reads 20 minutes a day at home, they will hear 1.8 million words per year. They will have read for 851 hours by 6th grade and on standardized tests, they will likely score better than 90% of their peers. This is compelling data on the benefits of encouraging your child to read.

Activitiy:
1. Choose a Museum. Select two pieces of art and make a list comparing and contrasting that piece of art.
2. Choose a piece of art that appeals to you. Write about why you like it.
3. Which museum had the best website? Write a letter to that museum praising them for their website. Tell the why you thought they had the best website.

Activity:
1. Observe your favorite animal. Keep a journal about that animal for a week. Research the animal you are observing. Create a brochure that could be used by the zoo to tell people about the animal.
2. Choose an animal. Research their habitat. Using materials found at your house, create a miniature habitat for that animal.
