Materials Science is the study of the characteristics and uses of various materials with improvements to their design that may add to their advanced engineering performance. 

Subcategories include Biomaterials; Ceramic and Glasses; Composite Materials; Computation and Theory; Electronic, Optical, and Magnetic Materials; Nanomaterials; and Polymers.
