Jim Henson Visual and Performing Arts at Northwestern High School

The Visual and Performing Arts program at Northwestern is a rigorous four-year arts program that offers talented high school students from the Northwestern attendance area, educational opportunities designed to prepare them artistically for college, professional study, or career options in the arts.

Our mission is to provide opportunities for a diverse student population to discover their passion. Students at the academy will participate in in-depth studies of multiple aspects including history, technique, and practice of Visual Art, Theatre, Music, Dance and Television Media. A highly trained staff of artist-teachers will develop within the students the courage to take risks and become leaders. Together we will build an active arts community where academy students inspire others to express themselves through various artistic methods. Their experience will develop a lifetime appreciation of the arts by applying creative skills that can be utilized in any college and career path.
