Service Learning Opportunity - Outreach Drive
Service Learning Details:
Objective: Fulfill graduation requirements while assisting the less fortunate.
Requirement: A minimum of 24 hours needed to meet the graduation standards of the State of Maryland.
Opportunity: Assemble care packages containing items listed in the accompanying flyer.
Benefits: Earn four (4) community service hours for each completed care package.
Participation Details:
Who can participate: Open to all students in grades 9-12.
Timeline: The service learning opportunity will take place throughout February 2024.
Collection Point: Completed care packages can be delivered to Mr. Givens in the discipline suite of the 9th-grade academy hallway.

PROJECT 24
Good News! PGCPS students will now be able to earn Service Learning Hours during the school day! Over the next six weeks, students can participate in one of the following school-based service-learning projects in order to reach the required 24-hour service-learning requirement! Due dates are along side each service learning opportunity. Seniors must have all Service Learning hours completed prior to their prom date. SENIORS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND PROM OR ANY END OF THE YEAR ACTIVITIES IF THEIR HOURS ARE NOT COMPLETE AND SUBMITTED.
These three Service Learning Projects are self directed. Once you complete each of the task email them to Ms. Joseph @ lindsey.joseph@pgcps.org.

CREATE your FSA ID#. Show confirmation by uploading a photo of your login page to Federa Student Aid Page. 4 HOURS.
ATTEND FAFSA Night. This is considered your informational session. Learn the importance of FASA, how to apply and fill out the set a sate to complete FAFSA Form . 6 HOURS
APPLY & Complete your FAFSA Application. Show confirmation by uploading a photo of your email from Student aid. 4 HOURS
WRITE a 2 paragraph (5-7 sentences for each paragraph) reflection on the process of applying for FAFSA. 4 Hours
PRODUCE a 60 second (1 minute) video highlighting the importance of completing the FAFSA form. Video will be Email

Conduct research on mental health awareness. WRITE a two-paragraph summary (5-7 sentences for each paragraph) of your research. 4 HOURS
CREATE an informative flyer using google slides or canva about mental health awareness. 4 HOURS
CREATE and POST Social Media Campaign with 5 different posts for 5 days Include the following hashtags #Project24 #PGCPSMentalHealth in your post. All social media campaign post MUST be school appropriate. 6 HOURS
WRITE a letter/email to the PGCPS Board of Education supporting the need for mental health services in PGCPS. Letter MAY be published in the Crossland Chronicle. 4 HOURS
