It is the responsibility of the holder of a certificate to know the current certification requirements and to renew a certificate prior to the expiration date.
How To Read Your Maryland Educator Certificate
Blue: Lists the following:
First and Last Name
Individual ID
Highest Degree Level
Red: Lists the following:
Certificate Number
Type (Conditional, Resident Teacher, Standard Professional Certificate (SPC), or Advanced Professional Certificate (APC)
Category of Certification (Teaching, Administrative, Supervisory, or Specialist)
Issue Date
Effective Date
Expiration Date
Status (Active or Expired)
Endorsement Area (Educator Certification Areas)
Endorsement Date
Green: Lists the following:
Ancillary Credit (MSDE required reading and special education credits)
Attained Date
Documentation
All Official transcripts should be collected for the personnel file (All transfer credits, bachelor's, master's, and beyond)
If you have earned a degree, your official transcript must show the conferral of degree
Verification of Previous Work Experience (VOE's)
Test Scores (i.e. ACT, GRE, SAT, edTPA, PPAT and/or Praxis I and Praxis II)
